The sites listed here are the major ezines in Australia. For our purposes, we define an ezine as any publication which appears only on the Internet. If a publication has both an Internet presence and a printed edition, it is classified as a magazine or added to one of the other Newsdesk classification areas.

The most comprehensive kart racing ezine on the Australian Internet, Kart Sport News is updated weekly and features the very latest karting news from Australia and overseas; a comprehensive listing of products, services and clubs; race reports, features, extensive karting links and much more. Whew! If karting's your thing, it's simply impossible to go past this amazing enthusiast site.

Matthew Parry's unusual ezine dedicated to sharing and exploring dreams. Contains a large number of articles and links on dreams, dreaming, dream analysis, dream journals...even a dreaming calendar.

Midnight Publishing's net broadsheet devoted to digital entertainment publishing issues. Updated approximately every 3 to 5 weeks, with a full archive of previous issues.

geekgirl

Australia's world famous geekgirl ezine justifiably deserves the praise and awards heaped on it. Partially funded by arts grants, this wonderful (and now quite huge) site is updated roughly once per quarter.

Grok is the magazine of Curtin University student guild in Western Australia. The site contains all the 1995 and 1996 issues with search facilities, but no 1997 content is yet available.

An ezine primarily for women covering fashion, beauty tips, sexual health and related topics, modelled closely on a similar site in the UK.

Australia's premier blues music site, created by Glenn Nelson. Contains discographies, new album reviews, bulletins, festivals, events calendars, blues societies, radio shows...everything to do with the blues! Updated monthly.

iMAGAZINE

Another of Australia's award-winning ezines, the iMAGAZINE is updated every 4 to 6 weeks and is now quite huge (in excess of 600 pages). Content covers film, music and art reviews.

The ezine of the Uniting Church Synod in Queensland. Contains a number of articles on the Church's perspective towards a number of contentious issues, but may be dead (last updated August 1996). Site is framed.

An extremely bizarre ezine put out by Robert Black and friends from the philosophy department at the University of Queensland. Regularly updated. Pages are huge so downloads can tend to be slow. Be philosophic.

National Outlook Online

A publication of the Anglican Church, updated 10 times per annum. Holds a number of in-depth articles examining contentious contemporary issues from an Anglican and Catholic perspective.

News Of The Day

Billed as Australia's oldest online newspaper, Scott Balson's daily news roundup provides a heavily editorialised summary of the day's lead stories from Australian news sources. Quirky, offbeat.... and frequently interesting.

Another very bizarre ezine devoted to "mediaculture, poetics and research", subtitled as "detours on the electronic backstreets". Holds poetry and offbeat articles. Updated between 2 and 4 times per annum.

Oz-Jazz Worldwide

George Howell's comprehensive jazz ezine was voted one of the top 100 Australian music sites in 1996 but now operates out of New Zealand. Holds a jazz notice board, gig guides, listings of radio shows, festivals and much, much more. Everything for the Australian jazz enthusiast.
